Discretionary trusts

These services are offered by our offshore operations, Close Trustees Guernsey Limited and Close Trustees Limited. They will be subject to different regulation and compensation from similar services offered by UK operators. Please see our ‘Important information’ for details of the regulation and compensation applicable.

At Close, our approach to Trusts is personal as the needs of each client differ. For this reason, we aim to deal with clients on an individual basis. Some typical reasons Trusts or other types of entities are established include:

  • To ensure their beneficiaries’ and / or dependants are provided for during their lifetime and thereafter;
  • To provide a structure to mitigate taxation;
  • To protect an individual’s assets where they have accumulated or inherited wealth from unreasonable claims on creditors at a future point in time;
  • To utilise a trust as an international pension vehicle;
  • To consolidate wealth within an effective structure.

Any structuring using offshore entities is done in conjunction with an adviser and should form part of an individual’s overall wealth planning.

Our professional approach focuses on working with clients, their lawyer and advisers, while providing a high level of client service and reporting.
